This wall mount fireplace mounts in the same fashion as a wall mounted TV, it will include all of the necessary mounting hardware and brackets for easy installation.

Can this fireplace be recessed into the wall so it’s flush with the wall

I do not recommend having it recessed since this is designed to be "flush mounted" - reason being is that the heating element needs to be able to breathe.
If you do not plan on using the heating element then yes, you can definitely recess the unit and enjoy just the visual flame effects.
