Very light assembly required, I would estimate that it would take an adult around 30 minutes to assemble this fireplace.

Does the back portion of the top fold down so it can fit flat against a wall?

The rear flap does not fold down - it is static in it's configuration once assembled.

I purchased the Chateau 49.94 corner fireplace. It is exactly what I was looking for. So well made and easy to put together. It looks perfect in my living room. It came quicker than expected. While I was waiting for delivery,I emailed Portable Fireplace and they replied quickly, and they were so helpful. I would not hesitate to order from them again.
